In My Gluten-Free Kitchen

A Sneak Peek into My Kitchen

I’m thrilled to announce a new series here at Celiacs in the House. The response has been tremendous. Each week in 2012 we’ll peek into the kitchens of bloggers, writers, cookbook authors and activists to explore all the ways they live gluten free. I’m so excited to have kitchens from all over the world–from the tiniest, big city apartments to one surrounded by an English garden. I have college students, singles, empty nesters, new moms, moms cooking for large families and chefs joining me throughout the year. There are vegans, vegetarians, paleo, dairy free and good old fashioned comfort food cooks, but they all cook gluten free. They’ll share favorite recipes, favorite tools and tips and a little about their own gluten-free journeys while letting us snoop in their pantries, cupboards and kitchens. Some will share seasonal activities in their kitchens, others will show you their best organizational tips, some will focus on their cooking philosophy, and some will just let us drool over beautifully appointed and designed rooms.

  1. Is it too late to join? I’d love to be a part of this. I cook allergy free, which includes gluten free.

My 3-year-old son had severe eczema until he was diagnosed with food allergies a few months back. I have a blog that shares our family’s battles with eczema, allergies, and asthma (yes, lucky guy has that too).

I think the key is to learn from one another, so the more information out there to the masses, the better. With this in mind I’ve started a blog hop for anyone dealing with food allergies, eczema, or asthma, either for themselves or as a caregiver. If you’re interested in joining, please add a comment. I’d love to welcome you to the group. http://itchylittleworld.wordpress.com/blog-hop/

    Thanks.
    Jennifer

  2. Oh my goodness. That line-up is unbelievable! I CANNOT wait to see this series unfold. What a fun fun event. And..I totally cannot wait to do some snooping! :) Fabulous idea!

  3. Whoo hoo! Sounds like an amazing lineup–I can’t wait to peek!! :D

  4. Hey! I would also love to participate, I’m more on the Paleo end of things, but was diagnosed celiac in 2008. I’ve recently started blogging about my recipes, but I’ve been cooking for ages. This is such a wonderful event!

    Pip

    • Hi Pip. I’m down to my last empty Friday and I’m waiting for a very busy friend to commit. I might have to try a wait list for those of you just hearing about the series. There are three of you now who are waiting in the wings in case someone has to drop out. I do appreciate the offer.

  5. What fun! Can’t wait to see everyone’s kitchen.

  6. Sounds like a ton of fun!! If you ever end up with empty slots for some random reason, I’d be happy to participate! :)

    • Maybe we should talk about a college kitchen day and gather up a few celiac/gluten intolerant college students for posts. What do you think? I’d be happy to collaborate with you and the new college site too.

      • Dia

        That’s a great idea!!
Lauren of http://www.celiacteen.com/ is one I’ve followed (off & on) since she was in HS!
I am excited to see ‘inside’ the various kitchens – wonderful project, & what a cool line-up!
A client today was just saying “I’d need recipes, if I/we were to go gluten free ….”

  7. I would love to participate too if you end up having spots available!

    • Hi Michelle. It looks like I’ve filled the calendar completely but I am seeing a ‘mom of young children’ group forming here in the comments. Maybe we should talk about doing a combined effort somehow. You can use the contact form to send me a message and then we can email ideas.

  8. what an awesome list, wendy… honored to be a part of it! can’t wait…

  9. Wow! This is great. We would love to be a part of it, too. Maybe it needs to be a twice-weekly thing ;)

In the meantime, you all can read up on the steps we took to get our home thoroughly de-glutened!

I’m looking forward to your series!

  11. What a fabulous idea! I’m not gluten-free, but I’m looking forward to the series.

I did notice that a lot of the links to the bloggers’ web sites are broken, ie Maggie, Lillian, Kelly to name a few. You are missing the http:// for their web addresses. Just figured you’d want to change that!

    :)

  12. I’d like to participate if a spot opens up – just let me know

Kitchens are so fun – it is nice to window shop and see what features you get to drool over!

  13. Great idea! It will be fun to see everyone’s kitchens!

That was very cool of your son to work on the badge with you until he found something that he thought was “you”. I love all those old family recipes with the food splatters and notes written in the corners.

And I am jealous of your beautiful home site. Southeastern Ohio/Hocking Hills area is just beautiful. I spent of lot of vacation time in that area since I grew up between Dayton and Cincy. Love the new horse banner too.

    Renee

  14. And if you need any additional folks, I’d be happy to participate!

  15. i can’t figure out how to subscribe or like you on facebook so i dont have to check back each week…am i missing something?

  16. looks like fun, Wendy! Looking forward to it.
